Mario Bava

I’m a big fan of the films of Mario Bava, so when I finally got round to buying the Mario Bava Collection Volume One, I was pretty excited.

The only film in this particular collection that I had already seen was Kill, Baby…Kill, but that was on a pretty low quality VHS bootleg years ago. Three of the films, The Mask of Satan, Black Sabbath and The Girl Who Knew too Much (a.k.a. The Evil Eye) are counted amongst Bava’s best, but for one reason or another, I’ve never had a chance to see them. The odd-man-out of the set is Knives of the Avenger, a Viking flick starring Blood and Black Lace’s Cameron Mitchell as a knife-throwing Viking. Can’t wait for that one!!
